Who We Are

 

​Arens Consulting is an educational based consulting service focused on literacy. Amanda Arens holds a masters degree in education and works nationally and internationally with school districts.   Her work is tailored to the needs of the district in which she is working. Amanda offers district professional development strategy planning and implementation with teachers, large/whole group in-services, writing workshop training, reading workshop training, comprehension strategies, model lessons in classrooms, lesson observation in classrooms with one-on-one feedback, Lucy Calkins Units of Study training, Common Core Standards alignment and mapping, curriculum writing for ELA and more.

Mrs. Arens is a regular speaker for Conference-Pro.  Her national speaking engagements and consulting include a wide variety of venues on many different topics. In addition, Mrs. Arens is an expert on the Four-Blocks® Literacy Model and has co-authored with Dr. Dorothy P. Hall, Dr. Patricia M. Cunningham and Dr. Karen Loman on the subject. Currently, she has published seven books on the Four-Blocks® Literacy Model:  Month by Month Phonics & Vocabulary for 4th grade and for 5th grade,   Writing Mini Lessons for Upper Grades , The Administrator's Guide to Building Blocks, The Teacher's Guide to Big Blocks,Checklist for Implementing Big Blocks, and The Big Blocks Plan Book Plus.  

Mrs. Arens' ability to adapt to any situation and help create solutions that foster learning for both students and teachers is evident in her ongoing work with several districts.
